Québec 2025: Day 4

I wasn’t sure I would make a blog post today, since the majority of my day was spent driving home. But how could I pass up posting about my last morning walk and delicious breakfast in Québec?

I took my time getting ready and packing my things this morning and then headed out on foot to what is possibly the prettiest (but certainly not unknown) photo spot in the city. Just below the Citadelle and on a hilltop overlooking Le Château Frontenac sits Pierre-Dugua-De Mons Terrace. I walked up to the Citadelle and along the ridge just below it before arriving at the terrace. Good thing I googled “best photo spots in Québec” this morning to make sure I hadn’t missed any! The houses along Avenue Saint-Denis by the terrace look like they’ve been plucked right out of a storybook!

If you’re wondering why I seem so unprepared for this trip, I blame it on the fact that I wasn’t supposed to be in Québec until tomorrow. For a couple of reasons, I moved the trip up by a few days and lost some of my planning time. As with yesterday, this morning’s breakfast restaurant, La Bûche, came highly recommended by my friend, Google. I definitely saved the best breakfast for last on this trip. The Pains Dorés (French toast with maple caramelized apples, apple butter, and caramel sauce) was to die for. Exceptionally sweet, but oh so good.

Once I hit the road, I only stopped for gas and the border crossing until I made it to Lincoln, New Hampshire. My late lunch/early dinner was had at Rhythm Cider, Tap and Grille in Lincoln. I have wanted to try Rhythm Cider for a while and today presented the perfect opportunity. I sat on the outdoor deck with a view of Loon Mountain and enjoyed a glass of their original Cider, which was excellent and only semi-sweet. Sadly, they were out of the chipotle chicken for the sandwich I wanted and I had to order an herb chicken, apple, and bacon sandwich instead. It was fine, but kind of boring and not what I had planned to eat.

Would I return to Québec? It probably won’t be on my travel agenda again anytime soon. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it for a short trip, but it has a “been there, done that” feel for me. And even though the drive wasn’t terrible, it was a long way to travel for just a couple of days. That being said, it was fun to have a taste of Europe without having to cross an ocean!
